Director of Christian Education

Purpose: To develop, oversee, and execute the educational ministry of the Christ Presbyterian Church (CPC), with a particular emphasis on youth ministry. This position is intended to enhance the overall ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church discipleship to Jesus Christ and love of his church and its mission.
Job Description: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Working closely with the Pastor to foster a Christian Education environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and intergenerational in scope, with a particular emphasis on youth ministry.
- Recruiting and training teachers and volunteers to lead Sunday School for all ages.
- Coordinating and leading regular Presbyterian Youth Fellowship (PYF) events such as Bible study, fellowship, service, 850 events, Dogwood Acres, Montreat, etc.
- Recruiting volunteers for PYF events.
- Seeking new ways to involve children and youth meaningfully in the life and worship of CPC.
- In conjunction with the Christian Education Ministry Team, coordinating and recruiting volunteers for Discipleship 101 and other special events during the year.
- Developing opportunities for Families in Faith, connecting parents of children and youth.
- Coordinating and resourcing adult Christian Education events such as small groups, Just Over Youth (JOY), etc.
- Coordinating and recruiting volunteers of all ages for the Pumpkin Patch.
- Overseeing nursery staff and volunteers.
- Overseeing and training personnel and volunteers in the Child and Youth Protection Policy.
- Coordinating and overseeing the Confirmation program.
- In conjunction with the Christian Education Ministry Team, preparing an annual budget for the Christian Education ministry.
- Regular worship leadership opportunities, including preaching, are available/encouraged but not required.
This position reports to the Pastor and meets regularly with the Christian Education Ministry Team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
- Experience in youth ministry (preferred).
- Working knowledge of social media and current technology.
- Effective communication and planning skills.

Compensation
- Full-time
- $45,000 – $55,000
- Benefits: The benefits package includes medical, paid vacation, and continuing education allowance.
