Director of Youth Ministry

The Christian Education program at First Presbyterian Church of Albany, NY, seeks a part-time, approximately 12 hours per week, Director of Youth Ministry. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth (middle and high school) ministry in the areas of group building, spiritual formation, education, worship, discipleship, mission and outreach, while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.
Responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing and providing general oversight for all aspects of a balanced youth ministry; mentoring youth in developing their leadership skills; recruiting and training adult volunteers to work with youth; developing and implementing a strategic youth ministry outreach plan; attending monthly staff meetings and Christian Education Committee meetings; and communicating effectively with youth, parents, the congregation and other staff using all available resources (email, text, Facebook, website, bulletin, e-blast, etc.)
Ideal candidates should possess an associate or bachelor’s degree, with coursework in education, theology or other relevant fields; 2-4 years of youth ministry experience; strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently; and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and social networking platforms. Applicants must be at least 23 years of age, have a driver’s license and good driving record, be available to work on Sunday mornings, and be willing to abide by our Safe Sanctuary Policy.

- $15,000-20,000
- 4 weeks vacation per year; 1 week continuing education per year; retirement benefits after one year of service
